Jamay Lee is a Principal at Barulich Dugoni Law Group in San Mateo, California. Ms. Lee litigates matters involving elder abuse, estates and trusts from inception through trial. She also handles conservatorships, estate planning and trust and estate administration.

Ms. Lee has been licensed to practice law in California since 2005. Over the course of her career, she has represented clients and appeared in uncontested and contested probate matters in Alameda, Amador, Colusa, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Los Angeles, Marin, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Stanislaus, Sutter and Yolo counties.

After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, Ms. Lee obtained her law degree from University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, where she was the recipient of a Public Legal Services Society Grant and received an Honors at Entrance Scholarship. Before joining Barulich Dugoni Law Group, she practiced at a preeminent firm in Sacramento, focusing on estate planning and litigation and elder abuse litigation. She also has experience with accounting issues, beneficiary disputes, trust contests and trustee disputes.

An active member of her legal community, Ms. Lee belongs to various professional organizations. She is a member of the litigation section and the trusts and estates section of The State Bar of California. She serves as Vice Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association and is a member of the San Mateo County Bar Association Diversity Committee.

Ms. Lee is a member of the Court-Appointed Independent Counsel Panel for San Mateo County Superior Court Trust, Probate and Conservatorship matters. Ms. Lee is also a member of the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Bay Area, the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley, and the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. She is involved in her community and serves as on the Board of Raising A Reader, a non-profit subsidiary of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. She is a also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Foster City Rotary.

Litigation Experience

  • In a bench trial, involving breach of oral contract to make a will, quantum meruit and several other causes of action against decedent’s heirs, obtained judgment in favor of heirs on all causes of action.
  • In a bench trial involving a will contest, obtained judgment in favor clients and award of attorney fees pursuant to applicable statute.
  • In a one week bench trial involving a Marvin claim, obtained judgment in favor of clients on all counts.
  • Obtained summary judgment dismissing trust contest filed by beneficiary and secured payment of all of client’s attorneys’ fees and costs incurred in defense of contest.
  • Obtained early judgment on the pleadings dismissing contest filed by trustee and beneficiary of trust negating the need for discovery or further litigation.
  • In a complex proceeding involving multiple actions and five law firms where personal representative client faced a $2 million surcharge, obtained very favorable global settlement relieving client of all liability and securing payment of all attorney fees and compensation to client.
